Alaska Startup Week begins a week early with the Alaska Chamber of Commerce Alaska Business Week Event for high school students. About 65 students from around the state will gather at the Alaska Pacific University campus to learn about business and work with community mentors.
Starting on July 24th, the Startup Week, formally known as Entrepreneurship Week begins with a unique event for women investors, followed by a full week of programs around the state. Visit www.alaska.startupweek.co to see the complete list. My focus has been on the investment workshops on July 25 and 26. These will be facilitated by Sue Preston of the Angel Resource Institute. Monday will be a workshop with case studies, Tuesday will be live pitches and applying Monday’s work to the five companies in the Launch Alaska program.
Following the week of events, there will be a new website that will be a home for the year round cycle of innovation events. Its not live yet, so watch for announcements. In mean time applications are open for the Arctic Innovation Competition which kicks off the new year of innovation events.
